Boehm-Madisen carries one of the largest and most varied hardwood inventories in the Midwest ready for prompt shipment to your location on one of our own curtain-side trucks. With over 200 years of combined experience, our sales and support staff will ask all the questions necessary to assure you get the right hardwood product on time and as specified.
We source our hardwoods from areas that produce the best color, length and width available and have developed long term relationships with supplier mills that can be trusted to ship on grade material on time.
Known for our “hard to find” items, we also have one of the largest selections of rift and quarter sawn hardwoods in the nation.
Please take a look at our hardwood inventory listing. We stock virtually all domestic as well as many exotic species in 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses, with some species 10/4, 12/4 and 16/4. Keep in mind that our inventory changes daily. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, give us a call. If we don’t have it in inventory we will do everything we can to find it.
Species marked with * are available as FSC® Certified upon request.
Common Name: Chestnut
Scientific Name: Castanea dentata
The American Chestnut tree was a predominant specie in the northern Appalachian region in the early 1900’s. By the late 1930’s, the Chestnut blight had infected that entire range and the trees were dying. Fortunately, some of these trees survived and a good portion of these trees are growing in Wisconsin. They were outside the effective 500 mile range. Boehm-Madisen Lumber is currently offering a small amount of this rare lumber. The heartwood is reddish-brown with lighter colored sapwood.
