White Oak has become one of the “go to” species in the 21st century. We stock flat sawn, quarter sawn, and rift sawn in select and better grades. We also stock rustic.

White Birch*

Scientific Name: Betula papyrifera
Description: White Birch is also referred to as Paper Birch because of its white, paper-like bark. We stock flat sawn, 4/4, Select and Better Sap.

Since the early 1990’s, our Ash tree population has been devastated by the emerald ash borer. We offer White Ash specific to color and stock flat cut and rift sawn.

Red Gum

Scientific Name: Liquidambar styraciflua
Description: Red Gum and Sap Gum are both products of the sweet gum tree which grows in Southeastern United States. The heartwood is sold as Red Gum and the Sapwood is sold as Sap Gum. We stock 4/4 Red Gum.
Red Alder
Common Name: Red Alder
Scientific Name: Alnus rubra
Red Alder’s popularity has exploded in the past decade. Much of its use is in rustic applications, but its also thought of as a substitute for Cherry because their grain patterns are very similar. We stock flat sawn lumber.
Hickory*

We do not specify a scientific name to Hickory because our lumber is made up of several different subspecies of Hickory. We stock it in flat sawn lumber in several color sorts specific to heartwood content.

Beech*
Common Name: American Beech
Scientific Name: Fagus grandifolia
The coloring and hardness of American Beech is very similar to Hard Maple. If you look closely, you’ll see small pores in the face of the lumber. We stock flat sawn lumber.
